The scripts from “Tanner 88,” Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Garry Trudeau’s critically acclaimed HBO cable television series satirizing the presidential election process, will be published by Fantagraphics Books in August. The illustrated volume will include all eight of the programs that chronicled fictional Representative Jack Tanner’s unsuccessful bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. Directed by Robert Altman, “Tanner” debuted on HBO in February, 1988. Trudeau describes the series as “an examination of the political process: What happens to a decent man when he’s exposed to the indecent pressure of a national campaign.”
