Two Los Angeles men were killed early Friday when the motorcycle they were riding slammed into the center divider of the Hollywood Freeway, authorities said.

The passenger was thrown over the guardrail into the southbound lanes of the freeway. “He was run over by several vehicles,” said California Highway Patrol Officer Monty Keifer. “Some of them didn’t stop.”

The accident occurred at 2:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway just south of Lankershim Boulevard in Studio City.

The driver, about 25, and his 19-year-old passenger were not identified pending notification of relatives, Keifer said.

Witnesses told investigators that the driver had been drinking alcohol before the accident.

The two men were traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the motorcycle, Keifer said.

All southbound lanes of the freeway were closed, and traffic was rerouted for nearly three hours, Keifer said.
