Roy Jones Jr., the hard-luck boxer of the 1988 Olympic Games, will start his pro career in an eight-round bout against journeyman Ricky Randall at Pensacola, Fla. tonight. It will be Jones’ first fight since he lost a controversial 3-2 decision to South Korea’s Park Si Hun in the 156-pound gold-medal bout at Seoul.
Jones is guaranteed $50,000. Randall, with an 8-14 record, will get $1,800.
