Pulverizing found an impressive kick late in the stretch to win the $100,000 Woodlawn Stakes at Baltimore and earn a spot in the Preakness.
“If he comes out of the race OK, it looks like we will have to go in the big one,” trainer John J. Robby said after Pulverizing finished in 1:43 2-5 and paid $18.80, $9.40 and $10.20.
Pulverizing, with Allen Stacy aboard, ran around the early speed horses to win by a length and a quarter over Ligature. Buck Leader finished third, another three-quarters of a length back.
