First-round leader Allison Shapcott of U.S. International University shot a second-round 72 and third-round 70 to win the California Collegiate tournament on the par-73 Stanford University Golf Course in Palo Alto.

USIU came in fourth with a score of 921 and San Diego State (928) was fifth. San Jose State (889) was first, Stanford (907) second and UCLA (918) third in the 10-team tournament.

Shapcott’s total of 212 was one shot off the tournament record of 211, held by Stanford’s Kathlene McCarthy in 1987. San Jose State’s Pat Hurst (215) was second and SDSU’s Karen Engberg (217) third. Shapcott, who has won three tournaments this season, and Engberg were tied for the lead after two rounds.

SDSU’s Wendy Modic (229) was ninth and USIU’s Tupito Walker (232) 15th.

FOOTBALL

Brian Fogarty, University of San Diego’s coach, will host a fifth football clinic Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at USD’s University Center. Admission to the clinic, including lunch, is $10 before Wednesday, $15 at the door. For information, call 260-4740.
