Arson Suspected in Kindergarten Fire

County fire officials said they suspect arson as the cause of a fire that destroyed a kindergarten classroom at a Bell elementary school.
The fire, which occurred at 1:29 a.m. at the Corona Avenue Elementary School at 3825 Bell Ave., caused $250,000 in damage, said Fire Department investigator Bill Franklin.
Franklin said that the classroom, separated from the rest of the school by a breezeway, contained no materials that could have ignited spontaneously. The 27 displaced kindergarten pupils who lost their classroom met in the school’s main building on Tuesday.
