Cal State Northridge defeated Clarion State College, 6-0, Tuesday in the losers’-bracket semifinals of the NCAA Division II women’s tennis tournament at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.

But the Lady Matadors were still eliminated--by the weather.

Northridge, which lost to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the first round Sunday, had its match for fifth place--against the Air Force Academy--rained out Tuesday afternoon. Tony Davila, CSUN’s coach, said the match would not be rescheduled and that the team would return home today.

Allison Kincaid, the Lady Matadors’ No. 1 singles player, will be the only player left behind. She will play in the first round of the singles tournament today.

Kincaid, a junior from El Camino Real High, defeated Lisa Warren of Clarion, 6-2, 6-3, in Tuesday’s team competition.

Northridge lost only two sets in sweeping Clarion in singles. The doubles portion was not played. Kaliko Yandall, Caren Hasselo and Heather Miller also won their singles matches in straight sets.
