Rick Leach of the Texas Rangers, who disappeared for 24 hours this week and was issued a summons for marijuana possession, is undergoing medical evaluation, the baseball commissioner’s office said.
Leach, the Rangers’ designated hitter, disappeared Monday in New York and was not heard from until he contacted the team Tuesday afternoon. He was in uniform for the Rangers’ 5-3 loss to the New York Yankees Tuesday night, but did not play.
While searching his New York hotel room for clues to his whereabouts, police found a small amount of marijuana.
