The San Diego County district attorney’s office Friday took over the job of tracing the most recent wave of medical waste to wash up on North County beaches.
The waste--which included syringes, bottles and papers that appear to be military medical records--washed up in Oceanside and Del Mar on Wednesday and was turned over to health authorities on Thursday.
They, in turn, handed the materials over Friday to the district attorney’s office, which is part of an interagency task force charged with prosecuting polluters.
Linda Miller, spokeswoman for the district attorney, said an investigator from the office on Friday examined the items washed up on the beach to determine if any had markings or labels that could be traced.
