Torrey Pines 8, Fallbrook 6--Dirk Fisher hit his eighth home run of the season in the first inning for Fallbrook (15-10, 4-7). Fisher now has a county-high 38 RBIs. John Finley hit a home run with none on in the third for Torrey Pines (12-11, 5-6). Finley was two for four with one RBI. Jon Lynch (4-6) was the winner for Torrey Pines.

San Dieguito 4, Orange Glen 1--Justin Machado went three for three with a double and two RBIs for San Dieguito (11-12, 3-8). Orange Glen dropped to 11-15, 4-7.

Metro Conference

Montgomery 3, Hilltop 1--Albert Candelaria (3-3) pitched a complete game for Montgomery (9-14, 4-9), and he had a good day at the plate as well. He doubled in the go-ahead run in the third to make it 2-1, and his sacrifice fly in the fifth drove in Montgomery’s third run. Hilltop is 8-15, 5-8.

Coronado 5, Mar Vista 4--Five different players had RBIs for Coronado (12-10, 7-6). Jason Fledderjohn (6-2) picked up the victory, striking out six and going the distance.

Sweetwater 3, Marian 2--With two outs and the score tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Issac Bruce of Sweetwater (13-11, 8-5) reached first on the catcher’s bad throw to first on a called third strike and stopped at second on the overthrow to first. Eric Denham singled to drive in Bruce.

Castle Park 5, Chula Vista 0--Sophomore pitcher Benji Gil went the distance and improved to 8-0. Gil also went one for two with a double and scored a run for sixth-ranked Castle Park (24-5-1, 10-3). Juan Beltran and Hector Mejia both were two for three with one RBI and scored once.

Southwest 7, Bonita Vista 3--Rafael Padilla went one for three with two RBIs and Tony De La Torre went two for four for Southwest (11-11, 5-8). Freshman Jason Garcia had reached base seven consecutive times over the past two games until the sixth inning when his streak was snapped. Bonita Vista dropped to 12-15, 6-7.

Avocado League

Carlsbad 21, El Camino 3--Visiting Carlsbad (19-8, 12-1) scored 15 runs in the first three innings. Jeff Westbay was five for six with four RBIs, Scott Karl was four for five with three RBIs and Brian Black was three for five with three RBIs. Jeff Myers (9-3) earned the win for Carlsbad. El Camino is 4-21, 0-13.

Escondido 2, Rancho Buena Vista 0--Senior righthander Mike Garcia (3-0) started for only the third time this season and got his second shutout. Ninth-ranked Escondido (19-5, 11-2) scored both of its runs in the sixth inning on errors. Rancho Buena Vista is 14-11, 7-6.

San Marcos 6, Oceanside 5--Trailing, 5-4, entering the bottom of the seventh, San Marcos staged a two-out rally. Gordon Sanchez hit a home run with none on to tie the game. Toby Lehman followed with a double and Matt McIntyre singled him home for the winning run. Lehman was three for three for San Marcos (7-16, 6-7). Oceanside is 11-15, 3-10.

San Pasqual 8, Ramona 3--Kevin Herde hit a two-run homer in the first inning for San Pasqual (17-8, 8-5). Herde (6-4) was the winner, striking out eight. Teammates Jim Clayton went three for four with an RBI and Dave Vejtasa went two for three with an RBI. Ramona fell to 5-8, 10-11.

City Central League

St. Augustine 11, Lincoln 1--Brad Gennaro (6-5) went the distance, striking out 11 and allowing just three walks. Eric Dent went three for four with three RBIs and two runs scored and Larry Murasky was two for three with four RBIs for St. Augustine (15-11, 10-5). Lincoln is 4-19, 2-13.

City Western League

Mission Bay 2, University City 1--Guillermo Aviles scored the winning run on a walk with the bases loaded for No. 2 Mission Bay (22-3, 13-1). Tony Lennan (11-1) was the winner. University City dropped to 7-17, 5-9.

Softball

Metro Conference

Hilltop 7, Montgomery 0--Allison Charles (4-0) pitched a no-hitter as Hilltop clinched the Metro Conference championship. Charles walked one and struck out 12.

Palomar League

Vista 12, Mt. Carmel 0--Vista’s Kelli Schott struck out eight batters and got her 200th strikeout to finish the season with 201. Vista (17-3, 11-1) had eight runs in the second.
