IN BRIEF : Anderson’s 5-Hitter Beats Twins
Allan Anderson pitched a five-hitter and Greg Gagne had two hits and scored twice as the Minnesota Twins beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-2 today.
Anderson, 5-2, struck out six and walked one in registering his first complete game of the year. After retiring 12 straight batters, he lost his shutout with two outs in the ninth when George Bell double and Fred McGriff hit his 10th homer of the year.
Dave Stieb, 3-3, gave up eight hits, struck out three and walked one over seven innings as the Blue Jays lost for just the second time in seven games under interim manager Cito Gaston.
