It happens every May in the weekend preceding the NCAA Division II track and field championships.

Athletes who have narrowly missed Division II qualifying standards make final efforts to improve their performances by the few seconds or inches that will send them to the Division II meet.

Cal State Northridge used those meets to its advantage last weekend, qualifying four athletes for the Division II championships that began Thursday at Hampton University in Hampton, Va.
