Flames Destroy L.A.’s Historic Pan Pacific Auditorium

Share

The Times’ coverage of the unfortunate fire at the Pan Pacific Auditorium was outstanding. The “hard news” on Page 1, plus the additional stories in Metro captured the flavor and the importance of the facility which was so important to Los Angeles during the past 50-plus years.

I lived in the area and as a child remember during the Depression years what the bright lights of the Pan with home and auto shows meant in those dark years.

The Pan was more than a building, more than an arena for sports and ice skating, it was a bright light in bad times.

Your stories brought some of that nostalgia and importance to those who never had an opportunity to visit the Pan during its golden years.
