Boy Slightly Hurt in Sun Valley Shooting
Ateen-ager was slightly injured Friday in a drive-by shooting across the street from a high school in Sun Valley, Los Angeles police reported.
The 15-year-old boy was struck in the arm by a bullet while in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant at Roscoe Boulevard and Whitsett Avenue, police said. The 3 p.m. shooting took place across the street from John H. Francis Polytechnic High School shortly after classes ended for the day.
Police later arrested a juvenile suspect in the case, who was being held for questioning. His name was not released.
The victim, whose name was not released, was standing outside the restaurant when be got into an argument with a passenger in a car that drove by and slowed down, police said. A shot was fired from the car, slightly injuring the boy. Friends drove him to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, where he was treated and released, police said.
The car from which the shot was fired sped away and has not been located. No arrests were made.
Though the victim denied belonging to a gang, police said the shooting appeared to be gang-related.
