Oil Slick Linked to Barge Oozes Along the Hudson

A mile-long oil slick, believed to have come from a barge pumping its bilge, oozed Monday along the Hudson River, causing at least two towns to shut intake pipes through which they draw drinking water. There was no immediate danger to area residents, officials said, but both state and federal crews were dispatched in boats and helicopters to monitor the slick.
