Convent Project Backed
How one-sided can your reporting get? Your May 24 article about the Board of Zoning Appeals’ endorsing the Sisters of Bethany Retreat House and Convent project in Tujunga didn’t indicate any community support for the worthy cause.
The fact is that, by far, this project has the support of the community. A few gadflies and a few selfish neighbors are fighting the project. Three hillside people want to keep this area as their private preserve and would deny anyone who owns property next to them the right to build anything.
There is no doubt about it. The people in Sunland-Tujunga strongly support the Sisters of Bethany and their project. More than 800 of our good citizens signed petitions in favor of this spiritual landmark. I’m not Catholic, but I support it strongly too.
This retreat house and convent would be a blessing for our community. In these times of too much crime and too many drugs, we need all the help we can get.
