(The school did win titles in football, boys’ state cross-country, girls’ individual tennis, girls’ team tennis, water polo, boys’ volleyball and boys’ tennis doubles. The Sea Kings reached the 3-A basketball final but lost to Trabuco Hills).

--Ted Mullen coaching football in Orange County.

--A shot clock in boys’ basketball.

--Derek Brown running for touchdowns, except perhaps when Nebraska is on the tube.

THINGS WE HOPE WE WON’T SEE NEXT SEASON:

--The Reebok/Jimmy Dean pork sausage/Estee Lauder football championships.

--Hyperactive cheerleaders with access to microphones.

--Hyperactive parents with access to coaches.

--Homecoming ceremonies that include: A) Hot-air balloons. B) Elvis impersonators. C) Fireworks. D) Parachutists. E) Horse-drawn carriages. F) Anyone singing, “Feelings.”

--Any feeble attempt at The Wave.
