Hermosa Beach Cyclist to Join Philadelphia Race
Kurt Stockton of Hermosa Beach will compete in today’s $110,000 CoreStates US PRO Cycling Championship in Philadelphia, the nation’s richest single-day cycling event.
Stockton, 23, is a former member of the U.S. National team and won a stage in the 1986 Keskipohjanmaa Ajo race in Finland.
The field of 101 cyclists will race 156 miles through the streets of Philadelphia, with the winner receiving $25,000. Entrants also include 1986 Tour de France winner Greg LeMond and 1984 Olympic gold medalist Alexi Grewal.
