Andreas Kappes of West Germany surged ahead at the finish to win a fast eighth leg of the Tour of Switzerland road cycling race today while Switzerland’s Beat Breu retained the yellow jersey of overall leader. Kappes was timed in 4 hours, 38 minutes, 56 seconds for the 128.8-mile stage, arriving at Bellizona, Switzerland, 40 minutes ahead of the race schedule. Dominique Arnaud of France was runner-up.
