Two brothers who own 20,700 acres of Sierra foothill rangeland east of Modesto have offered to donate enough property for a University of California campus. Several areas of the San Joaquin Valley are competing for a campus that is expected to be approved for the region, and Bill and Don Beck said they would let the university choose the 2,000 acres it needs from either of two parcels they own near Don Pedro Reservoir.
