THE SIDELINES : 2 Britons Share Monte Carlo Lead
Britons Grant Turner and Robin Mann shared the lead after the first round in the $450,000 Monte Carlo Open golf tournament today. Both players fired 6-under-par 63s over the 6,198-yard Mont Agel course.
South African Jeff Hawkes shot a 64 to occupy third slot.
On a British-dominated leader board, Andrew Sherborne and Peter Mitchell, both from Britain, had 65s to tie for fourth place. West German Berhard Langer had a 66 to share sixth.
U.S. Ryder Cup captain Raymond Floyd posted a 67 to tie for 18th place, then had harsh words for the state of the course.
