Sheriff’s Teams Call Off Search for Fisherman
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s rescue teams have abandoned their search for a fisherman presumed drowned when he reportedly fell into the California Aqueduct near Gorman early Tuesday, authorities said.
California State Police who regularly patrol the aqueduct will continue to look for the man, described as being in his 60s, Sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Boudreaux said.
A fishing companion told deputies he heard a splash and saw the man floating downstream in the swift water, Boudreaux said. Sheriff’s divers were unable to find the victim, and deputies called off their search at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities are withholding the man’s identify.
