MIAMI —
A United Airlines 737 jetliner was forced to make an emergency landing Sunday at Miami International Airport after the plane was damaged in heavy turbulence over the Florida-Georgia border, officials said.
Flight 1295 from Providence, R.I., to Miami landed safely at its destination, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jack Barker said. None of the 108 passengers were injured. In addition, a bird rammed into the windshield during the turbulence, cracking the glass.
