Fans Vote for the Stars, Not the Mere Meteorites
When will sportswriters and commentators stop trying to sell baseball fans on the myth that the All-Star game should be a reward for a good first-half performance?
Being voted to the All-Star game has nothing to do with the current season in the minds of most baseball fans.
The fans vote for those players they have come to recognize as “stars.”
By voting for Jose Canseco, the fans were saying that they recognize him as a star of the game, and the fact that he has not played this year does not diminish that perception.
