R&B; Voices

I agree with Hunt’s assessment of the current crop of R&B; singers. However, calling Bobby Brown, Al B. Sure! and Jody Watley “wimps” in comparison to the historical greats is unfair. They never professed to be as great as Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke or Otis Redding.

The new stars just happen to be unfortunately categorized under the R&B; heading, which nowadays seems to be any black music that isn’t clearly jazz, gospel or reggae.
