Man Gets 6 Months for Flag Desecration
From Associated Press
CATAWISSA, Pa. —
A man who while drunk yanked from the ground miniature American flags planted along a street has been sentenced to six months in prison and fined $200 for flag desecration.
William Frank Erlston, 22, was sentenced Thursday by District Justice William L. Breech.
Police said Erlston discarded the miniature American flags, planted by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for the Fourth of July. Erlston was drunk and apparently was not making a political statement, police said.
