Water Wishes

There appears to be a misconception on the part of some of your readers regarding water usage in the California desert. Some desert residents are not water wasters. We can’t afford to be. You see, we have a drought every year. If Angelinos were to enact the day-in and day-out conservation measures we desert dwellers do, water would never be a problem, even in the leanest years.

It’s funny. Los Angeles and its residents have been stealing water from all over California for years. Now that they are forced to cut back due to their current drought conditions, they attack Palm Springs because it has abundant water. What nerve! If you’re interested in conservation and desert water, contact the Coachella Valley Water District, 85820 Coachella Heights, Coachella, Calif. 92236. The information it can send will be enlightening.

One final note: Let me point out that the resorts with lakes, lagoons and waterfalls are being developed for tourists, not for those of us who live here. If you’d like to show your concern for water “misuse,” do us desert lovers a favor. Don’t come here.
