Surfing at Huntington Beach : Four From County Advance in Trials
Four Orange County surfers advanced in the trial rounds of the Op Pro championships Tuesday in Huntington Beach. The third trial round will be today with winners advancing to the pro men’s main competition.
Gary Clisby of Huntington Beach, John Parmeter of Newport Beach, George Hulse of Capistrano Beach and Todd Miller of Newport Beach advanced. San Luis Obispo’s Dave Parmeter, formerly of Newport Beach, also advanced.
Clisby defeated Matt Archbold of San Clemente, Doug Silva and Chuy Reyna.
Hulse defeated Rick Lasch, Scott Blake and Matt Branson.
Miller defeated Charlie Kuhn, Kirk Tice and Mike Madlander.
John Parmeter defeated Todd Mitsu, Todd Chesser and Kiapo Guerrero.
Dave Parmeter defeated Michael Rommelse, Chris Menzie and Mathew Pitts.
