Freddie Spencer, former world motorcycle champion in the 250cc and 500cc classes, was dismissed by Marlboro Yamaha just three days before the British Grand Prix in Donington, England.
The 27-year-old American, who in 1985 became the first rider to win the 250 and 500 titles in the same season, was also the youngest winner of the 500cc championship.
