Baseball’s pennant races are just warming up, but that won’t stop pro football from muscling its way onto the small screen this weekend.

In the first of three preseason contests, the Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins gather in Canton, Ohio for the AFC/NFC Hall of Fame Game today at 10:30 a.m. on ABC stations 7, 3, 10 and 42.

Tonight at 7, the Rams and San Francisco 49ers meet in Tokyo for American Bowl ‘89, the first National Football League game to be played in Japan since 1976. Channel 11 and ESPN cable carry the telecast.

On Sunday, the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles compete in the weekend’s other American Bowl. The NBC broadcast from Wembley Stadium in London gets under way at 10 a.m. (4)(36)(39).

Baseball fans may opt for two games involving the California Angels and Milwaukee Brewers. The teams, which are in contention to win their respective American League divisions, go to bat today at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. on KTLA Channel 5.
