Brister Signs Richest Contract in Steeler History

Quarterback Bubby Brister, previously the National Football League’s lowest-paid starting quarterback, signed a three-year contract that will make him the highest-paid player in the history of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Brister was on the option year of a contract that would have paid him $187,000 this year. His new contract is worth a reported $2.75 million, with incentives that could make the total value nearly $1 million a year.

The Steelers’ highest-paid player was cornerback Rod Woodson, who signed a $2 million deal as a rookie in 1987.
