Idyllic comes to mind. Glorious sums it up pretty well, too.

San Diego can stop striving for weather nirvana. It’s here, and it’s going to stay--at least until the middle of next week.

A “gradual change for the better” is forecast for the entire county this weekend, the National Weather Service reported. Lots of sunshine and seasonal temperatures combined with a decrease in the humidity and fewer mountain thunderstorms will make for near-perfect weather, forecaster Wilbur Shigehara said.

“We can thank shifting southwest high-level winds for the change in the weather,” he said. “The humidity will be down about 5% and, by Sunday, the thunderstorms in the mountains will have moved east.”

Low clouds at the beaches will be present most of the day. However, along the coastal strip and inland, the sun will break through by late morning and shine bright, Shigehara said.

Daytime temperatures at the beaches will be from 70 to 75 today and nudge down a couple of degrees Saturday and Sunday, Shigehara said. The ocean water temperature is 70, and the surf is at 3 feet.

The forecast calls for coastal highs through the weekend to be 75 to 80. Overnight lows will range from 65 to 70 tonight and drop to 63 to 68 degrees Saturday night.

Highs in the inland valleys will range from 80 to 92 today and Saturday, and be in the low 80s on Sunday, Shigehara said. Lows are expected to be from 60 to 66 tonight and from 58 to 63 Saturday.

The mountains are still fairly humid, but, as the weekend progresses, the moisture will drop, Shigehara said. Likewise, the afternoon and evening thunderstorms will gradually lessen through the weekend.

Mountain highs all weekend will be from 80 and 88 degrees. Overnight lows will be between 55 and 65 tonight and in the low 50s Saturday night.

Daytime temperatures for the deserts will range from 102 to 108, and lows will be in the middle 70s, according to the forecast.
