Kate Jackson, one of television’s original Charlie’s Angels, was resting comfortably Tuesday in a Los Angeles hospital after undergoing a successful operation for breast cancer--a modified mastectomy--and reconstructive plastic surgery. Doctors say that her prognosis is excellent and Jackson will return to work Sept. 6 to star in a made-for-TV movie. Said Jackson: “I’m making this disclosure public in order to help other women facing this difficult situation, encourage early detection of breast disease through mammography, and to save inquiring minds 50 cents.”
