Freshman quarterback Michael Carr, who left Clemson last week amid rumors of a National Collegiate Athletic Assn. investigation into his recruitment, plans to return to the school, the Atlanta Constitution reported in today’s editions.

“I changed my mind, and to make a long story short, I’m planning on being back in South Carolina tomorrow,” Carr was quoted as saying.

Carr said he left Clemson because he played poorly in a scrimmage last weekend and not because of recent allegations of an ongoing NCAA investigation into recruiting at the school.

His older brother, Chuck Carr Brown, denied Clemson made any illegal offers to Carr.

“No one from the NCAA has contacted anyone who was actually involved in Michael’s recruitment,” Brown said. “Everything that has been said so far is based on hearsay.”
