1 Killed, 2 Injured in Gang Shootings

An admitted gang member was killed, and a teen-ager and another man were wounded in a burst of gang-related drive-by shootings, authorities said Tuesday.

The slain gang member, identified as Eduardo Amador, 18, was shot as he stood with another gang member at the curb in the 1200 block of South Kingsley Drive in Los Angeles about 9:45 p.m. Monday, Detective Bill Humphry said.

Several shots were fired from a speeding car and one of the bullets struck Amador in the upper torso.

In another attack, a 15-year-old boy was wounded in the head in a drive-by shooting at Twining Street and Grey Drive in the El Sereno section of East Los Angeles about 11:40 p.m. Monday, Sgt. John Vanelli said.

The teen-ager, whose name was not released, was standing with several other people when a bullet fired from a passing car struck him in the back of the head, Vanelli said.

The boy was in guarded condition at County-USC Medical Center.

In Compton, a man was wounded in the leg in a drive-by shooting on Pine Avenue east of Short Avenue about 11:50 p.m. Monday, Lt. Joe Flores said.

The man was in stable condition at the Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, he said.
