David Blumstein, the president and chief operating officer at Peter Norton Computing since May, has resigned over differences in management style with other members of the executive team.

“It just didn’t work out,” said Ron Posner, chief executive of the Santa Monica software company best known for a utilities program bearing the name of company founder and software wizard Peter Norton. Posner said he would assume the duties of the presidency and had no immediate plans to replace Blumstein.

Blumstein, 44, who joined the company from Ingram-Micro D where he had served as vice chairman, said he was evaluating several job possibilities, but had no immediate employment plans.

“I’m looking for something a lot less laid back,” he said, explaining that the software house was too quiet and tame to suit his style. “I’m a pretty aggressive guy and have always worked for more aggressive companies.”
