John D. Simpson; New York Transit Director
John D. Simpson, 52, president of Fluor Daniel Venture Group investments, who headed the nation’s largest transit system. A West Pointer with graduate degrees in engineering and public affairs from Princeton, the decorated Vietnam veteran managed Denver’s transportation district before he was named executive director of the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority. He went to Fluor in 1983. The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society. In Laguna Hills on Monday.
