‘Days of Rage’ Will Air Despite Protests

Despite an open letter of protest from multimillionaire New York financier Meshulam Riklis in the form of an almost full-page ad in Tuesday’s Times, Los Angeles PBS station KCET Channel 28 plans to air “Days of Rage” tonight as part of a scheduled 2 1/2-hour block of programs looking at Israel and the Palestinians.

A KCET spokesman said that the station received 76 calls about “Days of Rage” on Tuesday morning, after Riklis’ letter was published. Thirteen of those calls were queries about when the documentary would air; 36 calls were negative, and 27 calls expressed support for KCET’s decision to air the program, the spokesman said.

Twenty-five of 26 leading public-TV stations in major broadcast markets are scheduled to air “Days of Rage” this week, according to PBS. The one holdout is WEDH Channel 24 in Hartford, Conn., which is postponing its broadcast of “Days of Rage” until October because station managers want a chance “to view the entire program before airing it.”
