THE SIDELINES : Ex-QB Seized on Fugitive Warrant

Former University of Tennessee quarterback Tony Robinson, who also was a replacement player for the Washington Redskins during the NFL players’ strike in 1987, was arrested on a fugitive warrant for parole violation by Fairfax County, Va., police.

Robinson was taken into custody on Thursday on a warrant issued by authorities in Knox County, Tenn. He had recently joined the Virginia Storm of the Minor League Football System.

The arrest was the second time he had been picked up for parole violations following his release from the Knox County penal farm in 1987 after being found guilty on cocaine distribution charges. Robinson was sentenced to six years in prison on cocaine charges in 1986, but served only 90 days of that term.

He was arrested last May and charged with using cocaine and marijuana, and changing residences and jobs without permission. He was being held on $25,000 bond.
