THE SIDELINES : Ingram Selected as AD at Alabama
Florida State Athletic Director Cecil W. (Hootie) Ingram was named athletic director at the University of Alabama today, calling his selection a “dream come true.”
Ingram succeeds Steve Sloan, who resigned under pressure Aug. 15.
Ingram, 56, was chosen over former Crimson Tide All-American Lee Roy Jordan, who said he was disappointed but did not want to create division in the Alabama family.
Ingram previously served eight years as assistant commissioner of the Southeastern Conference and has been on more than 20 NCAA committees over the years, including the prestigious NCAA Council and the Legislation and Rules Interpretation Committee.
