La Canada 16, Burroughs 10--Burroughs running back Danny Suarez dashed four yards with 5:31 to play to pull Burroughs (1-2) to within 16-10. Burroughs covered the ensuing onside kick and drove to the La Canada 18, but Suarez was stopped on a fourth-down run at Burroughs.
La Canada running back Paul Troughber rushed for 146 yards and one touchdown in 26 carries at Burroughs. Troughber gave La Canada (2-1) a 6-0 lead with a four-yard run in the first quarter. Quarterback Jim Chambliss later ran 13 yards to give La Canada a 13-3 halftime lead. Lionel Portugal booted a 30-yard field goal in the first quarter for Burroughs’ only first-half score.
