Man Killed in I-8 Car Crash

One man was killed and another hospitalized Saturday after a car smashed into a boulder in the freeway median on Interstate 8 near McCain Valley Road in East County, the California Highway Patrol said.
Jose Tamayo, 46, a passenger in the car driven by Eguenio Parra Morales, 25, was dead at the scene after the eastbound vehicle swerved onto the right shoulder and then into the median where it hit the boulder.
Parra was in fair condition late Saturday at Sharp Memorial hospital. Both victims were from Santa Ana, the highway patrol spokesman said.
