Dionne Left Unprotected but Not Picked in Draft

Marcel Dionne, the second-leading scorer in National Hockey League history, was left unprotected by the New York Rangers, but was not drafted in the league’s waiver draft Monday.

The Quebec Nordiques made left wing Greg C. Adams the first pick among only eight players selected.

Adams, 29, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward, was taken from the roster of the Vancouver Canucks and will make Quebec his sixth NHL team after previous stops in Philadelphia, Hartford, Washington and Edmonton.

Like Dionne, Vancouver veteran Harold Snepsts also was not drafted.

In other first-round selections, the Toronto Maple Leafs took center Dave Hannan from the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Winnipeg Jets picked defenseman Moe Mantha from the Philadelphia Flyers, and the New Jersey Devils took forward Kent Nilsson from the Edmonton Oilers.
