When asked to describe this weekend’s weather outlook, Wilbur Shigehara, National Weather Service forecaster, replied: “It’s going to be pretty nice.” When asked to elaborate, Shigehara responded: “It’s really going to be very pleasant.”

That apparently is the story in a nutshell, although it might also be useful to know that temperatures will be a degree or two below normal, and the sun will have to break through some early-morning low clouds and fog.

A weak low-pressure system stalled to the west of San Diego is responsible for the typical fall weather, Shigehara said. Temperatures are not expected to fluctuate much until early next week, he said.

Skies over the beaches will be partly cloudy in the afternoons, Shigehara said. Highs are expected to range from 68 to 71 degrees.

The ocean water temperature is 68.

Highs along the coast will be from 73 to 78 through the weekend, Shigehara said, and overnight lows will range from 58 to 64.

Inland highs this weekend will be from 78 to 84, and lows will range from 52 to 58, Shigehara said.

The mountains will be fair and sunny through the weekend with daytime highs from 67 to 74, Shigehara said. Overnight lows will be chilly--35 to 45 degrees--he said.

Desert highs today through Sunday will be from 88 to 95 degrees, and lows will range from 58 to 66, according to the forecast.
