From Times staff and wire reports
A woman in a yellow visitors’ gown stole a newborn baby from its mother at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, police said. The abductor told the mother that it was time to feed the hours-old baby boy, then took the child and did not return, police said. The woman took the 6-pound, 1-ounce child from his mother’s room during a hospital shift change, said Lt. Ken Walker. Hospital guards said they noticed a yellow car leaving the parking lot shortly after the abduction.
