Sniffing Out Spots to Eat the Treasured White Truffle

Caviar is delightful. Caviar is decadent. Caviar is delicious. But the one time I finally got enough of it, I was struck with the suspicion that if I ate caviar every day I might actually get tired of it.

White truffles, however, are another matter. Their subtle flavor haunts you, but it’s so elusive that as soon as the truffle has disappeared it’s hard to remember what it tasted like--and so you want some more.

White truffles have just come into season (which will last a brief couple of months), and I suggest eating them every chance you get. They are an expensive experience, but of all the food luxuries the one that’s most worthwhile. Here are a few of the restaurants featuring them:
