FULLERTON : Man Dies When Car Veers Off Freeway

Share

A young man was killed early Friday when the car he was driving veered off the Orange Freeway and crashed into a bridge abutment, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The man was driving south at about 2 a.m., approaching Imperial Highway, when the car was seen drifting to the right, Officer Keith Thornhill said. The car slammed into the abutment for the Imperial Highway overpass in Fullerton.

While officers believe the force of the impact killed the driver, the car was fully involved in flames by the time officers arrived. A visual examination of the body indicated the driver was about 21, but the fire has complicated efforts to identify him, officials said.
