From Times Staff and wire service reports

A man jumped to his death from a rail overpass onto the Santa Ana Freeway in Anaheim about 8 a.m. this morning, forcing closure of all northbound lanes and backing up traffic five miles in both directions, Anaheim police said.

Coroner’s officials said the man--an apparent suicide--was struck by several vehicles and was so badly mutilated that his identity could not be immediately determined. All northbound lanes were closed much of the morning, with traffic being diverted off the freeway at South Street and returned at Lincoln Avenue.
