Mahorn Signs With 76ers; No Terms Disclosed

The Philadelphia 76ers today announced the signing of forward-center Rick Mahorn to a multi-year contract, one day before they open the NBA season.

No terms were disclosed.

“Rick is a piece of the puzzle we felt we needed to make this a very good ballclub. He’s a great defensive player, and we feel he will be able to make a great contribution to the team’s success,” general manager John Nash.

Mahorn is beginning his 10th NBA season as the 76ers prepare to open Saturday night at home against the Milwaukee Bucks.

“This is a great opportunity for me, and I’m excited about playing in Philadelphia,” said the 6-foot-10, 255-pound Mahorn. “I look forward to playing with the Sixers and hope to do the best I can to make this team win.”
