Bob Probert of the Detroit Red Wings, expelled from the NHL last spring by President John Ziegler after having been arrested for cocaine possession, could return as early as March 4, 1990, the league said.

Ziegler ordered Probert’s expulsion continued until Feb. 7, 1990, when his prison sentence will be completed. He also said that Probert would be suspended until Nov. 7, 1990, but that the suspension could be shortened if Probert fulfills all terms of his probation.
